Earlier this year, Viking Venture invested in WorkPoint, a danish company providing a document management and process automation solution on top of Microsoft 365. To drive expansion, Workpoint now appoints a new CEO. The former Danish Microsoft director Claus Jul Christiansen replaces founder and long-time director Peter Jørgensen as of October 1st. This leadership change is part of the strategic plan adopted earlier this year.
The foundation of WorkPoint rests upon a software product that solves enterprise companies’ increasing need for a single document management system. A system that can accommodate everything from project management to business intelligence. They also have partners consisting of national and international IT companies and competent organisations. The foundation supports the ambition of a fivefold increase in turnover within the next five years. An ambition that can bring WorkPoint into the super league.
CEO Peter Jørgensen is proud of the basis for further growth that he now passes on.
– The sale to Viking Venture was carefully planned, and so was my resignation as CEO. I am proud to have developed a relevant and value-creating product in which both customers and partners see great potential. Claus Jul Christiansen is a very strong and competent profile, and it is now up to Claus to scale WorkPoint. I know Claus’ values and his way of conducting management – significant reasons why I have addressed him to be my successor. I have high expectations for the development under his leadership, and I am sure it will benefit our customers, partners, and employees, says Peter Jørgensen, founder and CEO of WorkPoint
Peter Jørgensen owns 25% of WorkPoint with his wife, Hanne Jørgensen. He continues on the board of directors and in an advisory role.
The new CEO comes with a strong commercial profile. Claus Jul Christiansen is passionate about business development, leadership, and technology. Professionally he has had a 26-year career at Microsoft in Denmark, as well as at the headquarters in Redmond near Seattle. Claus Jul Christiansen has been on the Danish board and in charge of customers and partners during his time at Microsoft.
– I have known WorkPoint and Peter very well as a central business partner from my time at Microsoft, and as a board member. It has been a pleasure to gain deeper insight into WorkPoint and to get to know Viking Venture. I have also had the opportunity to meet many employees. The high level of competence combined with the atmosphere in the organisation are essential elements of success. WorkPoint has come a long way, and we have an exciting journey ahead of us with significant expansion opportunities, says Claus Jul Christiansen, new CEO of WorkPoint.
WorkPoint is a partner-driven company, and Claus Jul Christiansen has great experience with this.
– WorkPoint is built on the Microsoft platform, and with a partner channel strategy, there is enormous leverage potential. WorkPoint’s international partner strategy must be developed, and together we will create continuous value for the end customers. There is minimal churn, which proves our strong product development and value focus, continues Claus Jul Christiansen.
Eivind Bergsmyr, partner in Viking Venture and chairman of the board of WorkPoint, points out that it is Peter Jørgensen’s own wish to step down as CEO.
– We have great respect for the visionary expansion of WorkPoint that Peter has spearheaded. I sincerely thank him for his efforts. Fortunately, we have found a worthy and competent successor in Claus, who will lead WorkPoint through the next phase of the company’s development. The two have now swapped places. We look forward to continuing the good collaboration with Peter on the board and with Claus as CEO of WorkPoint, says Eivind Bergsmyr, Partner in Viking Venture and Chairman of the Board of WorkPoint.
