4Subsea awarded contract on monitoring of conductor

The Norwegian oil company “Det norske oljeselskap ASA” has awarded 4Subsea a contract for monitoring of conductor loads on a pilot well at the Ivar Aasen-field in the North Sea. The well will be the first to be drilled by Maersk Interceptor, the world’s largest jack-up rig. The solution for monitoring conductor loads is based on autonomous sensors provided by Sense Offshore, a subsidiary of 4Subsea. The technology enables real time monitoring of conductor loads while drilling, without having to run cables from the sensors to the rig and without having additional personnel onboard while drilling. “The contract is an important recognition of our solution, developed to reduce cost of monitoring during drilling”, says Peter Jenkins, head of Well Intervention and Drilling in 4Subsea. Reducing cost and improving safety of drilling operations by applying new technology that enables monitoring without needing extra equipment or personnel on the rig is unique. Our technology has been developed with focus on real time data interpretation, to provide the crew onboard the drilling rig with information they need to work more efficiently and safer, Peter Jenkins adds.
